María Herrera returns to compete in the MotoE World Championship this year, now joining the Klint Forward Factory Team. Also this year, the Women’s World Championship begins, but the rider rules out participating in the future.

The Swiss team gave her the opportunity to continue competing in conventional championships when she was close to being without a seat, and the Spanish rider did not hide it in an interview with Corse di Moto:

I had nothing. I would have gone to the Women’s World Championship, but that would have been like losing my way. I have always fought to be in MotoGP or in Superbike, the only woman left… but Forward gave me this opportunity, and I have to grab it tightly.

An unusual concept has been approved for the new season of the Supersport, Supersport 300, and Women’s World Championship (WorldWCR): the first race will serve to define part of the starting grid for the second race of each round.

The most unusual aspect is how this will happen. It will not be the absolute positions that count, but rather the lap times: the first nine positions of the starting grid will be established based on the fastest lap times in Race 1.

This is one of the new format changes for 2024. As we have already reported, WSSP and WSSP300 will only have one free practice session, with Superpole moving to Friday, and warm-ups taking place before the races on Saturday and Sunday. The same applies to WorldWCR, making its debut.

Sundays are reserved for 10-minute warm-up sessions in all classes, as well as for the second races.
